Bringing the education innovation strategy to life

Originating from the vision of General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam) initiated the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam Program. The program was officially launched by the General Secretary, the Prime Minister, and senior Party and State leaders at the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Petrovietnam.

With the goal of establishing 100 international-standard STEM classrooms in 34 provinces and cities nationwide, this is the largest education initiative ever initiated by a Vietnamese enterprise, representing a project of national strategic significance in developing science and technology human resources and contributing to the formation of a new generation of energy knowledge-based citizens for Vietnam.

In line with this orientation, BSR has proactively rolled out the program with a detailed and practical plan. Accordingly, BSR will sponsor the construction of 15 STEM classrooms in five localities: Dien Bien, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak. Each classroom is valued at approximately VND 3.5 billion, covering equipment systems, software, teaching materials, furniture, and teacher training costs.

Designed to international standards, the classrooms have areas ranging from 80 to 120 m² and are equipped with 86-inch interactive screens, laptops, 3D printers, CNC cutting machines, AI – IoT – Robotics devices, along with simulation software and smart classroom management systems.

In parallel with equipment sponsorship, BSR places strong emphasis on enhancing teacher capacity. The Company cooperates with Hanoi National University of Education, Vietnam National University – Hanoi, and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to organize in-depth training programs. These courses guide teachers in operating modern equipment, developing interdisciplinary lessons, organizing scientific research projects, and applying technology in teaching - thereby enabling educators to master STEM teaching skills and disseminate hands-on STEM education methods at the local level.

Once installed, the STEM classrooms will join the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam network, connecting with schools nationwide to share teaching resources and organize online seminars. In the longer term, the network will gradually link with STEM classrooms around the world, enabling students of similar age groups in different countries to exchange knowledge and engage in international learning interactions.

For BSR, STEM education is not merely a community support project, but an integral part of its sustainable development strategy - an investment in people and in the future of Vietnam’s younger generations. Through STEM classrooms, BSR and Petrovietnam not only help students access modern technologies, but also inspire creativity, foster scientific thinking, and nurture pride in Vietnamese intellectual capacity.

Mr. Nguyen Cuu Huy, Principal of Tran Phu High School (Da Nang City), shared that STEM practice classrooms provide valuable opportunities for students to learn and create in a highly interactive environment, transforming abstract lessons into vivid experiences and igniting a passion for learning.

The principle that “investing in education is investing in the future” has been consistently reflected throughout BSR’s social welfare activities. Over more than 17 years of formation and development, BSR has invested hundreds of billions of VND in building schools and sponsoring education programs nationwide. For BSR, implementing STEM Innovation Petrovietnam is not only a meaningful social responsibility activity, but also a clear demonstration of the Company’s commitment to serving the nation, promoting knowledge development, and fostering innovation.

The STEM classrooms built today will serve as spaces where scientific ideas and dreams are ignited, nurturing future engineers, researchers, and experts who will actively contribute to national development. Through STEM Innovation Petrovietnam, Petrovietnam and its member units such as BSR not only reaffirm that education and innovation are the foundation for sustainable development, but also demonstrate the social responsibility of a “national enterprise,” further strengthening the image of a pioneering group that harmoniously integrates economic growth with social development and investment in human capital.
