BSR wins First Prize in the 17th National Technical Innovation Awards

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Vietnam Fund for Technical Innovation Support (VIFOTEC) held the honouring ceremony of the 17th National Technical Innovation Awards on April 23. Beating many outstanding works, 84 best solutions across the country were honored at the ceremony. Among them, the Organizer awarded 1 First Prize, 1 Third Prize, and 2 Consolation Prizes to BSR's solutions.

The First Prize was given to the solution titled "Improve the FO fuel export system and optimize operating conditions to import additional raw materials for the RFCC workshop through the Jetty product export port and process at Dung Quat oil refinery" by the authors MSc. Le Hai Tuan, MSc. Bui Ngoc Duong, and MSc. Mai Tuan Dat. The Third Prize was awarded to the solution titled "Assess the current situation, adopt conversion system, and optimize operations to develop a plan to prevent and respond to incidents of wastewater treatment system" by the group led by Bui Quoc Phong (Department of Safety & Environment). Two Consolation Prizes were given to the solutions: "Build digital office to develop the digital transformation roadmap at BSR" by the IT Department’s group led by MSc. Hoang Ngoc Tu, and "the Solution to optimize steam source using heating for E1522/E1524 equipment to improve the performance of energy-saving turbine generator clusters" by the authors group led by Nguyen HuuTruyen (Department of Operations and Production).

Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Chairman of VIFOTEC, highlighted the significant progress made in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Decision 165 on Organizing the National Technical Innovation Contest at 2 levels (national level and ministerial, provincial and city level) for 18 years, from just over 30 provinces and cities increasing to 55 ministries, industries, provinces and cities participating the contest with more than 8,000 creative solutions.

Especially, the 17th National Technical Innovation Contest (2022-2023) made significant progress, with 55 provinces, cities, ministries, and industries across the country (including 54 provinces, cities, and the Ministry of National Defense) submitting solutions. The Organizers at various levels evaluated thousands of solutions and selected 587 high-prize winning solutions to send to the National Technical Innovation Contest.

After being judged by the Board of Judges, the Organizers decided to award 84 solutions. Most of these solutions have been widely applied in production and daily life, bringing high socio-economic efficiency.

Apart from the awards given to BSR, five joint first-prize winners were honored at the ceremony: the solution "Research, design, and manufacture TBS-19 Equipment for training infantry soldiers to shoot" by Major and MA Doan Van Dung of the Military Technical Academy (Ministry of National Defense); the solution "Apply diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), a noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging technique, to investigate central and peripheral nerve fiber bundles at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hue University" by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thao; the solution "Research and design control and communication modules for smart electrical devices in the Smart Home product/service ecosystem" by MSc. Nguyen Doan Anh Ket; the solution "Research and design parts for the production of shopping carts with self-painting and automated robot" by Lieutenant Engineer Do Duc Hanh; and the solution "Apply remote sensing and GIS technology for investigating, surveying, and building a database of marine along the inaccessible islands in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands" by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Phan Quoc Yen of Military Technical Academy (Ministry of National Defense).

Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Chairman of VIFOTEC, praised these achievements, which encourage scientists, groups, and individuals working creatively to contribute to the country's socio-economic development.

At the ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong launched the 18th National Technical Innovation Contest (2024 - 2025).

Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong believed that the 18th National Technical Innovation Contest would award many unique, highly effective innovation solutions. Particular priorities to select the award winning projects would be given to ones applied in remote, mountainous, and island areas, as well as those which are made by young creative talents.
