BSR – NSRP: Strengthening Cooperation for Sustainable Development and National Energy Security
On June 6, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) hosted a working delegation from Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) in Quang Ngai to discuss strategic cooperation in refinery operations, market development, and long-term growth.
The meeting brought together senior leaders from both sides, including Mr. Kazutaka Yamato – General Director of NSRP, Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of BSR, and Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang – President & CEO of BSR, along with members of the Board of Directors, the Board of General Directors, Dung Quat Refinery Management and heads of professional expertise division.

Since signing a cooperation MoU two years ago, BSR and NSRP have engaged in effective collaboration. At the meeting, Mr. Yamato expressed his appreciation for BSR’s achievements, particularly in the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and emphasized NSRP’s interest in learning from BSR’s experience in areas such as energy transition, cost efficiency, and environmental compliance.

Chairman Bui Ngoc Duong reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two companies and emphasized the importance of continued, practical exchanges to deepen cooperation. BSR shared its strategies in corporate governance, crude procurement, finance, safety, and human resource development, as well as its vision for digital transformation and innovation through the establishment of a future Innovation Center.

BSR also introduced the Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade Project, which aims to increase capacity from 148,000 to 171,000 barrels per day and meet EURO V standards, enhancing crude flexibility and optimizing product mix and profitability.
In human capital development, BSR focuses on competency-based training, talent deployment, and cultivating a high-quality workforce aligned with its corporate culture and core values.
Both sides see potential for collaboration in key technical areas such as operations, maintenance, inspection, training, and shared services. Future cooperation may also include digitalization, green transition, and R&D.

Mr. Pham Van Chat – NSRP Deputy General Director – highlighted the meeting as a reflection of shared commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable growth. Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang – BSR President & CEO – emphasized the strategic role of both companies in Vietnam’s energy sector and the value of joint efforts in driving industry advancement amid global transitions.

BSR and NSRP concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and resource management, while expanding cooperation in supply chain, product development, and manpower. Dedicated working groups will be formed to develop actionable plans and support both companies in achieving and surpassing business targets in 2025 and beyond, contributing to national energy security and sustainable development.
