BSR Officially Joins the VN30 Index from May 13, 2026: A Milestone Affirming Its Position as a Key Energy Enterprise

On May 8, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) announced the inclusion of BSR shares of Petrovietnam Refining and Petrochemical Corporation in the VN30 Index basket, effective from May 13, 2026. The event marks a significant milestone in BSR’s development journey in the capital market after more than one year of listing on HoSE, while also reflecting the company’s scale and operational quality as recognized by the market.

According to HoSE’s announcement, BSR shares were selected to replace DGC shares in the VN30 basket during the May 2026 portfolio review. BSR is currently a constituent of the VNMidcap Index and ranked as the top priority reserve stock for the VN30 basket. By the end of Q1 2026, BSR’s market capitalization had reached VND 118.172 trillion, ranking 21st on HoSE, representing a 32% increase in value and rising four positions compared to the previous review period.

BSR’s business performance in Q1 2026 also recorded significant improvements, with consolidated revenue reaching VND 46.462 trillion and after-tax profit amounting to VND 8.265 trillion. Gross profit margin improved from 1.2% in the same period last year to 20.9%, reflecting the effectiveness of optimizing operations at the Dung Quat Refinery at 124–125% capacity utilization, along with a flexible inventory and sales management strategy amid Brent crude oil prices increasing from USD 66.8/barrel in January to USD 103.89/barrel in March.

BSR’s inclusion in the VN30 Index brings multiple benefits to both the Corporation and BSR shares. First, it broadens the institutional investor base. VN30 serves as the benchmark index for major ETFs such as VFM VN30 ETF, SSIAM VN30 ETF, and KIM VN30 ETF, as well as many domestic and international actively managed funds. Under portfolio rebalancing mechanisms, ETFs will allocate capital to BSR based on calculated weighting factors such as market capitalization and free float, thereby creating structural demand independent of short-term market fluctuations.

Second, joining VN30 raises governance and transparency standards. Stocks included in the VN30 basket are subject to stricter scrutiny from regulators, analysts, and shareholders. BSR considers this an important driver to further strengthen its corporate governance system, proactively enhance information disclosure, and implement increasingly advanced ESG standards in line with Vietnam’s goal of upgrading its stock market to emerging market status.

Third, the inclusion creates a foundation for improving shareholder structure. Currently, Petrovietnam owns 92.13% of BSR’s charter capital. According to the roadmap submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, the Corporation will coordinate with its major shareholder to restructure capital ownership in order to meet public company requirements while creating opportunities for future strategic cooperation.

BSR views its inclusion in the VN30 Index not as a destination, but as the starting point for a new development phase, centered around four strategic priorities:

(i) Optimizing operations at the Dung Quat Refinery – maintaining high utilization rates, ensuring absolute operational safety, and flexibly leveraging crack spread fluctuations to protect profit margins against crude oil price volatility.

(ii) Concentrating resources on implementing the Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade and Expansion Project - increasing processing capacity from 6.5 million to 7.6 million tons per year, meeting EURO V standards, and expanding the petrochemical product portfolio with higher profit margins.

(iii) Strengthening capital and shareholder structure - coordinating with Petrovietnam to implement a capital restructuring roadmap aimed at meeting public company standards while opening up long-term cooperation opportunities.

(iv) Enhancing information disclosure and investor relations – improving the quality of periodic reports, organizing regular dialogues with domestic and international institutional investors, and gradually approaching disclosure standards of emerging markets.

Amid ongoing volatility in the global energy market, BSR remains committed to operating safely, transparently, and efficiently, ensuring sustainable benefits for shareholders and partners, contributing to national energy security, and fulfilling its responsibilities to the community.
